How therapy helps

The therapeutic setting offers a safe and confidential environment where you can explore what is troubling you without fear of criticism or judgment. Psychoanalytic and psychodynamic therapy aim not only for the relief of symptoms but for deep-seated and lasting change.

The evidence shows not only that analytic therapy can bring relief in the short term but that it can be a catalyst for a process of lifelong change. For a recent meta-analysis of the research, click here. For other relevant research, see the website of the British Psychoanalytic Council.
